You do right! Your sound is supernice. Best wishes🤘
Thanks so much!!!! This really helps!!!!
Hack
U look 60
This was fantastic! Thank you
great video friend. just a friendly advice: please also film from the back
this video dont age well a lot of goalie use the 580
Back when I made this it was all 590 and 600
This is the most relevant video I’ve found to address my issue. I’ve only just watched it, so I still need to go out and try it, but you’ve called out exactly what happened to me, namely, spinning in place. I’m looking forward to trying the correction out.
Really well explained. 🤙
I’m 44, in decent shape and just started playing. These tips are a huge help. Most videos I’ve watched seem to assume us newer goalies know the metrics of the basics. You did a great job not only explaining how, but why. Thank you! Liked and subbed. 👌
Im 66 years old and still playing, been playing for 26 years i learned stand up goalie style. my pads are old (COOPERS 32 FILLED WITH DEER HAIR lol) and they dont work very well for butterfly style, equipment has changed so much, so much lighter but i found that it doesn't last as long. thank you for being honest and the great instruction . that style isnt natural to me and hard on my knees. but im working on it thank you
Thanks for the video I need help lol
This is a really good video. Also, it’s amazing how much I can feel that type of day.
Thanks for the tips! Just started playing Goalie for the first time and moving around in the crease is one of my biggest issues right now. Going to a stick and puck soon to practice and hopefully get much better!
Great advice
Great video! Thankyou for taking the time to make it! I'm a 44 year old goalie playing in my first season, and the butterfy has been so difficult for me to learn, that I've basically abandoned it. I'm going to practice the tips in this video and hopefully become better with the butterfly.
I just placed it under the back tire of my car and left it there for a day
How do you move forward and backwards while in butterfly? You don't seem rotate your body when doing it
Everything about this rant is 100% accurate. This is just the hard truth about being a men’s league goalie. You show up and can never have a night off, you always need to be focused and ready to go. Also its a position thats very taxing on the body and the mind. A lot of players don’t understand that. Doing that night in and night out, carrying the load for your team when they shows up with sand in their skates can get frustrating when you’re giving 100% and their giving close to nothing
Thanks Chris! Great video! I played in the kick save era of goal tending and I'm struggling to learn butterfly pushes. The tips you give help me better understand the movement.
Really appreciate you taking the time to help us older goalies trying to learn the newer game.
What if u have bad knees?
I was trying to explain this to another goalie today. I was able to use this video. You NAILED it. I switched from V8 to Bauer Hyperlite Vapor expressly because I was noticing that nobody was ever able to touch rebounds with the stiffer pads because the exit speed was too great for them to react. A guy told me today that "You are giving up some huge rebounds" and I asked "Were they directly to someone's stick in the slot?" Of course they weren't. I cannot tell you how often on a 2-1 when the shooter goes low to the opposite side the rebound shoots past the other forward before he even sees it, let alone puts it on net.
Good day.... I'm 59 years old and 15 years after hanging up my skates after a collar bone displacement and 7 years after being diagnosed with Parkinson's, I am trying back at joining a shinny league.... After 3 skates, I had the crazy thought about trying the goalie thing....I bought used equipment online and went out ready to embarrass myself... Good thing for me, most of the other players were very empathetic and took it easy on me and encouraged me to come back...I can't wait to get out there again soon to try out your training advice..... Presently, I can't move once in the butterfly position.... Thanks for this video..... From an old fart trying to play goalie...
I credit this one video with simplifying so much of my butterfly mechanics. Thank you for explaining this so simply and with examples and an encouraging attitude.
Man I need some work on my butterfly can't seem to close up
What cage do you have on the 962
The check mark upside down
Great lesson
When i try, i end up spinning. What does that mean?
3:54 you mentioned bob’s glove I have one and the finger plastic is different and the glove opens up much more then a regular 580
Brooo are you me? I agree with everything you said. 590 has always given me the best snapping glove saves and I love the way it closes. The 600 has too much of a pancake feel for my taste, but that's what I currently use. I'm interested in trying the bauer hyperlite but I dont typically love bauer gloves
Do you still have the 580? Wanna sell it?
Thank you
what is your height and atk?
You definitely look in control . Robin Lehner stance and style . bigger, i wish i had the butterfly flair of you
How loose are ur pads? Can u do a video of how to put on pads, almost 40 and i cant move 😭😂🤣 think pads are too tight. Thanks
Do you have them tightest on bottom and looser as you go up? That’s what I was told from my son’s coaches and videos on YT. We use type with strap and buckles also it’s a soft shell not like G4 or anything. My son used to wear player socks and coach recommended to stop. My son also tells me he feels more comfortable and he can do better butterfly’s without them.
I play juner b and my a goalie
Dream training arena right there: outside in the snow. Love it!
Chris thanks so much on showing in video how do butterfly I needed that
Lmao, I watched this video a long time ago and it’s funny every time cause I do the opposite of everything he’s saying but when I teach younger kids, I show them a different way than him and I do it for 2 reasons, 1. I’m different and have my own special ways of doing everything 2. I play AAA and every other goalie plays somewhat like he’s teaching in the video but they aren’t good at the fundamentals of the game such as t-pushes, shuffles, butterfly slides and more, the people who are younger I teach all about the push leg, the push leg is all you have to worry about, if you put your push leg in the opposite direction you want to go, your in more control and yes you do turn if you loosen up but after practice you can control everything you do no matter the way your set up, and when you come across, if it’s a shot down low just flare your bad and do the spread eagle or lean into the shot and when you flare the pad, it’s on the shot so the pad can go back to the relaxed state, makes gameplay much easier
will definitely try it out
Pretty solid movement. The Bauer's can't be touched for sliding from what I hear. I have played in Vaughn, CCM and Brian's. I think Brian's is a close second for their pad sliding.
Have you worn slr2 ??? Or do you still wear your v2’s
Thanks for the helpful video!
My season starts in a few hours! I had to rewatch these tips from both your videos on butterfly techniques ✌🏼😎👍🏼
How'd it go ??
Oh was awful at first 😂 but it was ok i guess....6-3 loss
Hey, not too sure if You Tube will notify this late.. Preach on Bud!! Your entire ‘rant’ was totally relatable. I’m 42 & even during this ‘pandemic’ I’ve been feeling all the same things you mentioned..I want to get as much ice time.. but you will still get burnt out. Keep on doing YOU! Nice talk
Thank for the technic...for now im able just one side , with my left push leg because im lefty.
Hey man can you do how to do butterfly
Everyone is so mean to you about critiquing your goaltending and getting new pads a lot. I hate that. Just play hockey and do what you love cuz you only live once
How tall are you and what size pads are those
